Two more days of nothingness. Well.. thats partially a lie. I got talking to one of the girls here and from that have become a tad more social, but thats it haha :)
On Monday I discovered at the high point I had about *40* bites. Thats mental. I had 25 on my left arm alone!! Arghhhh. Sue (caravan park owner) took a look and said she'd get me a 'bug bomb' to set off in our room, which is currently going off actually. Taking a long time too. But yeah, the bites have gone down now mostly, not quite so itchy and no new ones I noticed this morning so fingers crossed ! :)
Neil is leaving, he rung up a guy who knows a guy he kinda knows and they offered him work picking lettuces, all the way in ALICE SPRINGS. Feck that for a laugh. So I think he's here for another five days or so and then off he goes, I'm staying.
I had a bad night of it on Monday, I got all worked up over money and everything and got really really homesick. First time since I've left though, so not all bad. Had a bit of a chat with people and got over it, think maybe I just needed to get it out of my system because after that I was finnne. Thank god! After that went to the kitchen for a little while and was chatting to a couple of people with Neil, one of them (Peggy) gave me new episodes of gossip girl and loads of random shit on my external hard drive to watch - whoop :D
Yesterday was Pancake Day, and therefore there was a pancake party in the kitchen at 7pm. Wandered around with Peggy for a little while in the afternoon, she's been here for a while and she was also here last year so she knows quite a few people and she introduced me to loads, too many names but most people seem pretty cool so all is good. Practically everyone I spoke to has a permanent job and now the girl who came on the same day as me (Celine, french, lives next door) has a permanent job too so fingers crossed I am next on the list.
Pancake party came and went - free pancakes from two german girls, free alcohol from Peggy - can't complain! Apparently this time of year in part of Germany is like a festival, kind of like halloween so they mixed that with the pancake party and a bunch of people came in costumes, pretty random but quite amusing. The two german girls are leaving today and have been here quite a while so they organised everything kind of like a leaving party, with voting for costumes and a mini treasure hunt type thing which resulted in everyone getting random little prizes kind of like happy meal toys - was amusing! Peggy was awesome as well and giving me this Baileys type stuff mixed with chocolate milk.. not quite to my taste but after a month of barely drinking and the fact it was free I could hardly complain, coupled with the fact I barely ate yesterday and I was a bit drunk after not a lot. All good. Lightweight Sheri has returned, it will hopefully be surprisingly cheap to get drunk in the future. However, the lights go off in the kitchen at 9:30pm so most people headed off then, myself included. Was a good night though, good to actually be social I guess and Peggy seems pretty cool so all is good.
This morning I was woken up by a rather loud knocking at 7:45am, to say I wasn't too impressed is an understatement, but it was Sue asking if we wanted to work. Work? Feck yes. More grape picking too, which is so easy its barely like work anyway. Neil declined, I said yes and got a lift with three french girls - they can speak a little bit of english but not a huge amount so it was pretty stilted conversation, but never mind. We worked from about 9am til 1pm and then told it was too hot, so we're going back tomorrow morning to finish it off. I'd be happier if it was more hours, its probably only gonna work out about 6 or 7 hours which after tax is practically non existent, especially seeing as I still don't have my Tax File Number - its probably in the inbox waiting for me at Base in Sydney, I really should give them a ring and see if they have it! But.. no money. As per usual :D
So now I'm back, after about ten minutes of being back Sue came over and set off the bug bomb which involved me leaving the room for two hours, and then after that I have to stay out for another half hour while it airs out too. Bah. Pain in the ass. However I came down to the kitchen, sorted out some photos, played some Super Mario and now writing this. I got further in Mario too, so all is good with that - haha. The flies in this place are starting to drive me mad though, glad that there is only ten minutes before I can go air my room out and then 30 more minutes before I can go back in - I want to nap! I am tired! Humbug!
I spoke to mum and Louise at some point on the phone, bought myself a new phone card and that was pretty cool. I also discovered that I can still use BB messenger on my phone if I just swap my orange sim card back in because it doesn't cost anything - yay! Zara is going to my house in UK tonight, the original plan was to get up about 2am so I could talk to her on mums phone but no can do now with work in the morning - typical bad timing, but hey - need the work! Giiiive me the work!
Thats about all I think, tomorrow work until lunch time again and then Friday I'm gonna hopefully head into the town centre, I should get paid from my work last week tomorrow so will need to get moneys out to pay rent, once again. Time does fly in this place when I look back on it, I've been here two weeks today.
