london, in a nutshell

When I say in a hutshell, all I can think of is Lee Evans doing some joke i.e 'help meee, I'm stuck in a nutshell and I can't get out'. Oh dear.

Went off to London today with good old Melina, the woman was over an hour late to the train station and it was only when she got there after I'd been standing there in the cold for an hour that I realised the much better idea would have been to go sit in the nearby pub. Epic failure on my part. Anyways after freezing my ass off for rather a long time we finally headed in, we went to a few various museum gallery type things to look at arty stuff and random photographs, Melina had happy feelings over the shoes and fashion stuff and then we headed off to the exciting place - HARRODS! (the museums really took up a rather large portion of the day but Harrods was far more interesting to be fair)

I do love London at Christmas, even if its ridiculously crowded and very very cold, how many times I took off and put my coat on today I will never know. I also got extreme deja vu from walking around Leicester Square about three times(?!) but indeed! Harrods had an amazing christmas department where I decided I wanted some of the decs to have in my room all year round, purple sparkly stars?! Where can you go wrong with that? Other than the fact I'm obviously leaving the country, only reason I did not buy one. Such a shame. I took silly amounts of photos as per usual, good fun was had! They had absolutely amazing christmas display windows as well, they were all themed on the Wizard of Oz for the anniversary (70th?) and it was pretty damn cool!

After this we headed off to Covent Garden for an Australia talk at Sta Travel, even with instructions via text we managed to get totally lost and go the complete wrong direction - if I can't navigate my way around London (where I have been many times might I add) WITH DIRECTIONS, I really am screwed for Australia. Time to invest in a personal sat nav? I think so. Anyway, talk was pretty cool - went over lots of things that are available to do when out there, I knew a lot of it already but it was good to get some more detail etc etc, definitely gonna be buying some kind of coach trip when I get there, but now I'm even more confused on which one. And I only have about two months to decide. Eep!

We then went off to a random bar with Cam and Sam (I was amused because they rhymed) who are two lovely people who work for Sta Travel Buzz, or actually a different promo company of some sort, and had a cocktail whilst chatting absolute nothingness about jobs, drinks, and of course Twilight. It comes into every conversation somewhere, lets be fair. Cam tried to convert Melina to the ways of twitter but of course it did not work - Melina is a stubborn one! Unfortunately I have no photos of these guys although Cam took a few, which I'm sure will arrive online sometime soon. We said our goodbyes and then me and Melina headed off to Planet Hollywood, once again back to Leicester Square! We had a mild detour on the waltzers, damn I love those things. Important lesson learned today: It is not as easy to take photos on waltzers as they make it look on that advert for Nikon cameras. Fact!

Planet Hollywood was nice, if ridiculously overpriced. Nice cocktail though, and then off home in the freeeeezing cold! Its such a shame the last train back here is at 11:30pm, would have been nice to hang around some more but for now this is me heading to bed, I have to get up for work in 4 1/2 hours and instead of sleeping like I should be I'm writing a blog. My logic fails me. I blame my nap on the train home.
